This month’s Update opens with a reflection on America’s 250th anniversary—remembering the American Freedom Train of 1976 and the reminder that God’s purposes have always reached far beyond any one nation. Psalm 67 calls us to pray that His saving work would be known “among all nations,” and that burden continues to shape our ministry as we serve across the lands.
This month’s update also includes:
- A look back at June’s ministry trip to Chile, including preaching at Emanuel Bible Church and leading an area‑wide men’s conference.
- Time at The Wilds Christian Camp, meeting with Rick Jensen about the August work trip to Uruguay, and connecting with EMU board members.
- Highlights from the July EMU International Newsletter, including America at 250, Brooke Illsley’s benediction, Chile ministry reports, Uruguay storm recovery, and a security incident in Mexico.
- A full month of preaching opportunities—in North Carolina, Michigan, and Minnesota—as part of the July series America at 250: Celebrating God’s Heart for the Nations.
- Sweet family updates, including Joanna’s month in Minneapolis helping Abby’s family and welcoming a new grandson.
- Prayer requests for safety, provision, and the strengthening of churches, along with two practical needs: missionary support and a more reliable travel vehicle for upcoming ministry.
